I chose the cheap laminate over the mid grade stuff for my own house

I installed flooring for a living so I figured I knew better than the sales guy who said save up for the better stuff. Picked up a pallet of the budget laminate from a big box store for $0.89 a square foot, and after 6 months the edges are already peeling in the kitchen. Anyone else ever ignore professional advice and regret it on a project?

That 89 cents a foot price tag sounded so good at the time, but six months is a rough timeline for edges to start peeling. I feel your pain on that one, I did something similar with a cheap ceiling fan that started wobbling after a month. You think you know enough to beat the system, but the system usually wins in the end. It's a hard lesson that sometimes the pros give that advice because they actually saw it fall apart before. Hope you manage to patch it up without having to rip the whole floor out.

Man you had the one job and still got burned by the cheap stuff, that stings. I did the same thing with my basement bathroom last year, went with the thin vinyl plank instead of spending a little more on the thicker stuff with the attached padding. After a couple months the seams started lifting up in the corner where the floor gets a little damp near the shower. Did you run the cheap stuff all the way into the kitchen or did you put a transition strip at the doorway?

Right? That "one job" thing gets me every time too. It's like a LIFE lesson that keeps repeating itself. I think people do the same thing with everything from lawnmowers to phone chargers now. We all want to save a few bucks upfront but end up paying for it in headaches later. My buddy did the same on his deck, used the cheap composite boards and now they're all warped after one winter. It's like the universe punishes us for trying to cut corners.
