My old boss said I'd never make it on my own, and I believed him for two winters
Quit my job at a landscaping company back in 2019 after 5 seasons with them. The owner, Dan, sat me down and said solo guys wash out fast without a crew and steady contracts. First winter I made $11,400 total and ate a lot of rice. I almost called him to ask for my job back in February 2021. But I picked up 3 regular mowing accounts that spring from a Facebook group in my town, and those turned into full yard installs. Last year I cleared $68k working alone. Dan was right about the hard part and dead wrong about the rest. Anybody else get told they would fail and then sort of prove the person half right?
