Rant: my sister's $40k wedding and my $4k one had the same number of people. I found this out on a spreadsheet.
My sister got married in June in a big ballroom outside Chicago and I got married in my backyard two months ago. Last week my mom made a shared spreadsheet so we could split some leftover vendor bills, and the guest counts sat right there in the same column. She had 112 people, I had 108. That is basically the same wedding. She spent about $40,000 on hers and ours came to just under $4,000, and honestly everyone stayed longer at ours with more food left over. The thing that gets me is that the extra money did not buy more fun, it bought a bigger room and a worse DJ. Has anyone else watched two weddings with the same headcount end up with a ten times price gap?
A bigger room and a worse DJ" is the most real thing I've read all week. Same headcount, ten times the price, and the cheap one had better food. People are paying for the photos, not the party.
