The "one tip" from a YouTube video saved me $300 on my own truck

I was about to drop my F-150 off at a shop for a rough idle. Guy quoted me $300 to replace some sensor I never heard of. Then I stumbled on a 12 minute video where a mechanic just said to check the vacuum line behind the air filter box first. Took me 5 minutes with a flashlight, found a crack, taped it up as a temp fix and the truck ran smooth all day. Ordered a $14 replacement hose online. Made me wonder how many other repairs I've paid for that were just a cracked rubber part. Has anyone else had a shop quote something easy and watched a random video fix it for pennies?
