Watched a guy at Home Depot in Columbus spend 20 minutes arguing with the returns desk over a $7 bag of mulch

He was screaming about how it was 'defective' because the bag ripped when he picked it up, and that's when I realized half the people who complain in public are just mad at themselves but can't admit it, has anyone else noticed how often that happens in hardware stores?

Actually I think the guy might have had a point about the bag being defective but only if he could prove it. Those cheap plastic mulch bags at Home Depot tear if you look at them wrong, especially in the summer heat when the plastic gets brittle. I bought one last year and the handle ripped clean off before I even got it to the car, but I just shrugged and carried it like a football. Some people blow up over small stuff because they're embarrassed about being weak or not knowing how to handle things, but that doesn't mean the bag wasn't junk to begin with.

@milarodriguez makes a good point about the bags being cheap. But the bigger pattern I see everywhere is people getting mad at the wrong target. Like at the grocery store when someone's card gets declined and they yell at the cashier about prices. Or at the DMV when they forgot a document and blame the clerk. It's always easier to scream at a stranger than to admit you messed up or chose to buy a flimsy bag.
