Blank stares during discussion night taught me a lesson about pacing

I was in Portland at my friend's house last Tuesday and nobody had finished the book, so we spent 45 minutes just rehashing chapter one. Now I always send a halfway check-in text three days before the meeting to see where everyone is at, has anyone else tried this approach?

@the_alice I've tried bribing them with snacks and now I'm the one who shows up with empty hands and full regret.
