Can we talk about how a cooking memoir sparked our best book club debate?
We all left hungry for more after that lively discussion.

Come on, sometimes a recipe is just a recipe, not some deep life lesson.

Seriously, my book club had the same thing happen with a baking memoir last month!

I always saw cooking memoirs as simple books about food. Our club's talk on one showed how recipes can tell deep stories about life and change. We argued over how cooking ties to family roots and personal growth for a long time. That debate made me see these books in a new light, much richer than I first thought. It turned a casual read into a meaningful exchange that really stuck with me.

But how do you know when a recipe is more than just steps? Isn't cooking itself a way to tell a story? Or does it all come down to the cook?
