Chat with my mom made me rethink how we pick book club books

My mom called me last night after our meeting and said she hated the last 3 books we read because they were all 'sad white guy novels.' lol She's 68 and has been in her own book club for like 20 years so I actually listened. It hit me that our group keeps gravitating toward the same genre without even noticing and we're probably losing members because of it. Has anyone else realized your club has a blind spot in how you vote on books?

Same thing happened to our group last year.

3 of our 4 guides actually quit mid-trip last summer with us, so we ended up having to combine groups. It made me wonder if these tour companies are even vetting their staff properly or just throwing anyone out there with a map.
