Hit 100 books read this year and honestly it feels kinda empty
I set a goal of 50 books for 2023 and somehow blew past 100 last week. Everyone in my book club is impressed but I realized I can barely remember half of them. I flew through 'The Night Circus' in 3 days and now I can't tell you a single detail about it. Anyone else feel like reading fast just takes the joy out of it?

Started reading '1984' last week and got so bored I spent an hour looking up old Amazon reviews instead. Haven't touched a book since.

Had a buddy who read it for school and said he fell asleep on page 12.

That book does start off pretty slow, but it picks up around chapter three when the story actually gets going. Falling asleep on page 12 is pretty common since Orwell spends a lot of time setting up the world before the plot kicks in. Give it a chance to get past the first fifty pages and it'll grab you.
