Hit 50 books read this year and nobody warned me about the burnout
I finally crossed the 50 book mark last Tuesday for my annual reading challenge. Thought I'd feel proud, but instead I just felt exhausted and couldn't even pick up another page for three days. My book club asked what I thought about our monthly pick and I gave a blank stare. Has anyone else hit a reading milestone that just drained them instead of feeling like a win?

I mean, the way you said "thought I'd feel proud, but instead I just felt exhausted" really hit me. It's like we do this thing where we turn a hobby into a checklist and then wonder why it stops being fun. I've noticed this same pattern with people who do those "project 365" photo challenges or try to watch every Oscar nominated movie before the ceremony, it becomes this grind where you're just crossing stuff off instead of actually enjoying the moment. Maybe it's just me but I think there's something weird about how we've turned almost everything into a numbers game lately.

@sage308 My buddy tried a photo-a-day challenge and quit after week three because he said he hated his camera by then.
