Just had a talk with my neighbor about classic sci-fi and it changed my reading list
I was grilling out last Saturday and my neighbor Bob, who’s 72, said I was missing the point by only reading modern sci-fi. He told me the original Dune trilogy was way better than any new series because it built a whole world without fancy tech. It hit me that I’ve been ignoring older books for years, so now I’m starting with Frank Herbert this month. Anyone else find a older book that made you rethink what you read?

Ever read the Lensman series? Old as dirt but still slaps harder than most new stuff.

Nah, modern sci-fi has way better pacing and tighter writing honestly.

Have you actually read any older sci-fi, or are you just assuming it’s dated without giving it a shot?
