My friend insisted our book club needed to read 'The Three-Body Problem' and I thought it would be too dense, but after the first 100 pages I was completely hooked on the mystery.

She said to just push through the initial historical setup, and now our whole group is debating the ethics of the Trisolaran crisis over coffee every Thursday, so has anyone else had a book they initially resisted that totally won them over?

Almost gave up on Dune, but the world-building got me.

World building is cool and all, but it's still just a book. People act like it changed their life.
