Shoutout to the librarian who stopped me from quitting a book mid-chapter
I was about 50 pages into this dense historical novel last month and ready to toss it across the room. The librarian at my local branch in Madison saw me fuming and asked what was wrong. She told me to skip ahead to chapter 12 because that's where the plot finally picks up, and she was totally right. Has anyone else had a librarian or bookstore worker save them from giving up on a book that turned out great?

Did you read that article about skipping chapters being the new reading hack?

I get why people do it but skipping feels like cheating to me honestly.

That article basically said you can skip entire sections and still get the main story. I tried it last month with a 500 page thriller and honestly I didn't miss anything important. The middle chapters were just filler about the main character's backstory anyway.
