Showerthought: My book club swore 'Piranesi' was a slog, and I fought them for 3 weeks to keep it on the list
We picked Piranesi for our March meetup at Rosie's diner and 4 of the 7 members quit reading by chapter 6, calling it confusing and slow. I pushed back hard because the diary format had me hooked, and I kept saying they just needed to get past the first 60 pages. Two of them finally finished it and admitted the last third floored them, but Janet still says she wants her Tuesday nights back. So now I can't tell if I was right that it's a great pick or just stubborn because I picked it. Where do you all land on pushing a book that half the group hates, fight for it or let it go?
