Burned a friendship over a parking spot in Chicago

I was meeting my buddy Mike at a crowded bar near Wrigley Field in Chicago, and I snagged the last parking spot in the lot. He pulled up right behind me and got mad, saying I stole his spot cause he saw it first. We argued for like 10 minutes outside in the cold, and I finally just told him to drop it or we're done. He didn't drop it, and I haven't talked to him in 3 years. Has anyone else ended a friendship over something that dumb?

3 years is a long time to hold that grudge over a parking spot, man. I had something similar happen with my cousin at a packed mall lot near Christmas, we were both circling the same row and it got ugly fast. We didn't talk for about 6 months and it felt so stupid looking back. Sometimes the cold and frustration just makes you say things you can't take back, especially when you're both stubborn. Hope you're doing okay without that friendship weighing on you.

Wait, is this the new trend where we throw away years of friendship over a parking spot lol? I totally get it though, I once had a full-on yelling match with a stranger over a spot at Target and I still think about how ridiculous I looked. Three years does sound extreme, but I've definitely held grudges over dumber stuff before like someone stealing the last bag of chips in a vending machine. The holidays just crank up everyone's stress to 11 and suddenly you're ready to fight over a piece of asphalt like it's a life or death situation. I'd like to say I've changed but last week I almost lost it over someone blocking the aisle for too long.
