Can we talk about the friend who told me to cut off my brother after he missed my wedding, and whether she was right or just fed up with hearing me complain?

The friend probably wasn't wrong about the "stop venting to me" part. Hearing the same sad story over and over wears people down, even good friends. But going from "I'm tired of this" to "cut off your brother" is a big jump. Only you know if he's truly a lost cause or just a guy who screwed up bad once and feels awful about it. A wedding is huge, no question, but family stuff is messy and your friend isn't the one who has to live with that choice.
