DAE think cutting off a friend of 9 years over one dinner was the right call, not a loss
Everybody in this group says cutting ties always hurts and you will miss them. I disagree. I ended a friendship last October after one dinner at a place near my apartment in Columbus. He showed up 40 minutes late, then spent the meal making fun of how I still rent instead of buy. I paid my half and blocked him that night. Nine years gone in one evening and I slept fine. My question for you all is simple: does anyone else feel relief instead of grief after? Because I keep waiting for the sad part and it has not shown up.
The relief comes when you stop bracing for a text or call you never wanted anyway. Someone who mocks your apartment at dinner is not a friend, that is just a person who needed a punching bag. Nine years means nothing if the last few were spent feeling small, so enjoy the quiet and let the sad part stay gone, lol.
