Had to choose between my best friend and my brother after a money fight
Last year my brother borrowed $300 from me and said he'd pay it back in 2 weeks. Two months went by and nothing. My best friend kept pushing me to confront him about it, but my brother got really defensive when I finally asked. I picked my brother in the end because family matters more to me, even if he's flaky with money. My best friend got super salty about it and we haven't talked in 5 months now. Honestly, I still wonder if I made the right call, but at least I can still have dinner with my brother on Sundays. Has anyone else had to pick between a friend and a sibling?

That $300 situation sounds rough but honestly, sometimes you just gotta let the little stuff slide for family peace. Had a cousin who borrowed my lawnmower and returned it with a dead battery and missing blades, took me six months to realize I was still holding a grudge over a stupid mower.

Nah, you made the right call. Your friend was the one pushing you to make things weird with your own brother over $300. That's not a huge amount in the grand scheme of things, and family dinners on Sunday are worth way more than that. Your friend getting salty and ghosting you for 5 months proves she cared more about being right than about you. I'd pick the person who shows up every week over someone who bails over a loan that wasn't even theirs.
