Hit 30 unread texts from my sister before I finally blocked her for good
I kept count over six months. Every time she drank she would send these long rambling messages blaming me for stuff that happened when we were kids. Number 30 was the one where she called my wife a name I won't repeat. That was it. I took the screenshot, sent it to my mom, and blocked her. has anyone else kept a tally before pulling the trigger on a family member?

30 texts? Jesus, that's some serious record keeping.

Actually keeping a tally makes perfect sense to me. At some point you need hard proof for yourself that you're not overreacting, because family will try to gaslight you into thinking it wasn't that bad. Mom probably saw that screenshot and finally understood why you had to do it, which is the only way you don't become the bad guy in the family group chat. The name-calling thing is a hard line too - I don't care how drunk someone is, that stuff comes from somewhere real inside them. There's a difference between cutting someone off in anger versus protecting your peace, and you clearly reached that point. Your wife didn't sign up for being a target in your sister's drama, so good on you for prioritizing that.

Right? I've done the same thing with my brother - saved screenshots of his texts for like six months before I finally showed my mom and she was shocked. That tally approach saved my sanity too, because otherwise you start questioning if you're the crazy one.
