Just realized my brother's feedback on my construction work was right all along.

He told me I was rushing the foundation pour back in 2019, and after three separate cracks showed up last winter I finally slowed down, took the extra hour to level it proper, and the slab came out perfect - has anyone else had a family member's criticism you ignored for years turn out to be spot on?

Yeah, my dad kept telling me to double check my measurements on a deck I built.

Did your dad ever actually catch a mistake you made though? Because there's a big difference between someone just nagging and someone who's actually saved you from ripping out a whole section of decking. My uncle was the same way about the joist spacing on my first porch, and yeah it was annoying at the time but he caught me at 18 inches instead of 16. That's a pretty easy fix if you catch it early, but a real pain if you don't. Sometimes the annoying advice is just someone who's been through it and knows what happens when you skip the small stuff.

Did you actually take his advice or just blow it off?
