Just realized my so-called best friend was copying my life choices for 5 years and it freaked me out

I saw her Instagram story last week with the exact same lamp I bought in 2021 down to the brand and color, and then it hit me she also moved to my neighborhood, got the same dog breed, and even started my hobby of pottery all within months of me doing each thing so has anyone else dealt with a friend who quietly mirrors everything you do?

...and the lamp is what did it for me too honestly. That's so specific and strange, how do you even accidentally end up with the exact same brand and color years later. I had a roommate in college who started dressing exactly like me down to my thrift store finds and it took me months to notice because we had different body types so the clothes looked weird on her. Did she ever give you any hint before that she was watching you this closely?

kinda feels like a stretch to freak out over a lamp and a dog breed, people pick up trends from friends all the time without even noticing. maybe she just has similar taste and you're the main person she hangs with so it rubs off on her naturally. unless she's literally stalking your purchases and following your every move, it's probably harmless and you should just enjoy having a friend who likes the same stuff.
