Spent $600 on a private investigator to track my best friend's lies
Caught her stealing from my family for months. She'd borrow and never return. I didn't want to believe it. So I paid a guy in Phoenix to follow her for two days. Turns out she was pawning my mom's jewelry. Confrontation was brutal. She denied everything. Still worth every penny to know the truth. Has anyone else paid money just to confirm someone was bad for you?

Kinda surprised nobody's brought up what happens after you get that proof. @lewis.finley your case show it can backfire in weird ways too. Sometimes solid evidence just makes the confrontation harder because people double down instead of confessing.

Paid a private detective $400 years ago to follow a guy I was dating. Found out he had a whole other girlfriend in the next town over. It stung to lose the money and the relationship, but at least I stopped wasting time on a liar.

Wait, didn't it feel like you basically paid some guy to confirm what your gut already knew? I mean, $400 is a harsh way to learn you should have just trusted your instincts in the first place. But hey, at least you got a solid story out of it and a great excuse to never lend anyone your credit card again.
