The year I stopped calling my brother every week

I called him every Sunday for 5 years straight after our mom passed, then one day I just forgot and a month went by before I noticed. Neither of us reached out, and honestly I think we both needed that space more than we needed the calls.

That part about "the silence being louder than the conversations" really hits home. Did you ever try to break that silence by bringing up something big or was it more like you both just let it sit there? I wonder if the routine itself was keeping you from having the hard talks that actually needed to happen.
