Vent: Ended a 15 year friendship after she kept stealing my meal prep containers
I had this friend Sarah since college and we were super close. But over the last 2 years every time she came over my fancy glass meal prep containers would go missing. I thought I was just losing them until I found 6 of them in her car last month after she borrowed my car. When I asked about it she laughed and said I was being petty over some plastic. These were not cheap, like $12 each from the container store. I told her we were done and she called me dramatic. Now I just keep my stuff locked in a cabinet when people visit. Has anyone else cut off a friend over something that felt small but was actually the final straw?

Hold up, she called those glass containers plastic? I'm stuck on that part. My brain almost short circuited when I read that. Glass meal prep containers from the Container Store are definitely not cheap plastic, and anyone who's ever dropped one knows that immediately. Laughing about taking six of them and then calling you petty for calling her out? That's not about the containers, that's about her not respecting your stuff at all. Fifteen years is a long time, but good for you for drawing the line somewhere.

Man that's rough but honestly this is part of a bigger thing I've noticed where people think taking your stuff is no big deal if they think it's small. It's never about the item itself, it's about them showing they don't respect your time or money or space. Good on you for finally drawing that line, some people just take and take until you make them stop.
