Walked away from my best friend after she lied about my dog
Last month I found out my friend told everyone I was neglecting my golden retriever so she could try to adopt him from me. She even called animal control on me once. Has anyone else had a friend do something that insane over a pet?

My cousin once faked a vet bill to convince me my cat had a rare disease so she could take him to her house for "treatment." I still don't talk to her and honestly dogs and cats just bring out the worst in some people.

Honestly at this point I'm half convinced my cat is running some kind of long con on me for extra treats. Wouldn't surprise me if she's got a secret phone calling my friends behind my back.

People used to tell me stories like this and I thought they were exaggerating or maybe just had bad friends. But this changed my mind completely. The way your friend called animal control on you is beyond messed up, that could have gotten your dog taken away or worse. It's scary how someone can act like a friend while secretly trying to steal a member of your family. I used to believe people wouldn't go that far over a pet but now I see I was naive. Your story opened my eyes to how sneaky and selfish people can be when they want something bad enough.
