Dropped $85 on a used meat grinder at a garage sale in Fresno and it already paid for itself
So I run a small butcher shop here in Fresno and about 3 months ago I picked up this old Hobart grinder at a garage sale for $85. The guy said it had been sitting in his dad's garage for years and he just wanted it gone. I figured for that price it was worth a shot even if I had to rebuild the whole thing. Brought it home, cleaned it up, replaced the auger and the plate, and man this thing has been a workhorse. Before this I was grinding all my sausage meat with a little KitchenAid attachment that kept overheating every 10 minutes. Now I can push through 40 pounds of pork shoulder in like 15 minutes without breaking a sweat. Made 60 pounds of brats for a local bar last weekend and the grinder never even got warm. Honestly the best $85 I ever spent on equipment, way better than that $400 grinder I bought new a couple years back that crapped out in 6 months. Any of you still running older Hobart or Berkel gear?
