Finally nailed that whole animal breakdown after 6 months
Went to a little butcher shop in Asheville last weekend called The Chop Shop. The guy there showed me how he separates the shoulder from the loin on a pig, and it just clicked for me in a way it never did from videos. I've been practicing at home on smaller cuts but this was my first time doing a full half pig from start to finish at their workshop. Has anyone else had that moment where seeing it in person just makes everything make sense?

Hands on is totally different. Videos don't show you the feel of the meat or where the bones actually flex. Once you do it yourself it all makes sense.

Nah honestly I learned way better from YouTube alone, hands-on just confused me more lol.

YouTube tutorials work great because you can pause and rewind whenever something doesn't click. Hands on settings can get overwhelming fast when you're trying to learn guitar tone or video editing at the same time. I used to get so frustrated trying to follow along with a physical instructor, always felt like I was two steps behind. The main thing is finding a channel that breaks things down into small steps, like five minutes at a time instead of dumping everything on you.
