Had to choose between a bandsaw and a meat grinder for my home setup last month
I was setting up a small shop in my garage in Akron and only had budget for one big tool. Picked the grinder because I do a lot of pork shoulder and brisket for my family. But now I'm stuck breaking down whole chickens with a hand saw and it takes forever. Anyone else regret skipping the bandsaw for their first purchase?

You ever spend an hour hacking at a chicken with a hand saw and just question every life choice that got you there? I picked the bandsaw for my garage and now I'm the guy with a pristine brisket slicer but a freezer full of ground pork sausage because I bought the wrong tools for the job. Breaking down whole chickens with a bandsaw is a dream though, feels like a pro butcher move. But hey, at least your grinder matches the pile of meat you're handling instead of my weird mismatch of halves and quarters.

Three hours into breaking down a hog with a hacksaw at 2am is when you really start questioning your life choices, buddy. Your freezer sounds like a cry for help disguised as efficiency. At least you're not the guy who bought a meat grinder just to find out it can't handle bones and now has a very expensive ornament.

Oh man, that's rough. I went grinder first too and regretted it hard until I found a used bandsaw on Craigslist for like 80 bucks. Might be worth keeping an eye out for something cheap while you save up, that hand saw thing sounds brutal.
