My old boss in Omaha told me to always cut pork shoulder with the grain, and I've been doing it wrong for 8 years.

That "doing it wrong for 8 years" line hits hard. It's like when you find out you've been loading the dishwasher wrong your whole life because your family just never questioned it. We pick up so many little rules from people we trust, like always rinsing rice or folding towels a certain way, and just accept them as truth. Makes you wonder what else you're doing on autopilot that's actually backwards.

Oh man, this is so true. I realized I was storing all my pots and pans wrong because my mom always stacked them. Turns out you should put a towel between them to stop scratches. It's wild how these tiny, inherited routines shape our whole day without us even noticing.

My grandma taught me to store bread in the fridge to make it last longer. Found out years later that actually makes it go stale faster from the cold. She was just used to doing it that way in her old apartment with no AC.
