A guy at my gym in Phoenix said he turns down jobs that pay under $85k now, and it made me rethink my own line
I was resting between sets last Tuesday and this guy I talk to sometimes mentioned he walked away from a $72k offer because the commute was 50 minutes each way. He said his rule is simple: if the drive is over 30 minutes, the pay needs to start with an 8. I sat there doing the math on my own job, 35 minute drive, $61k, and felt kind of dumb. I never once added up what the gas and wear on my car actually cost me over a year. Now I am wondering if I have been pricing my own time wrong this whole time. How do you all decide when a commute is worth it for the money, or do you just take the closer job every time?
