Appreciation post: I tried sending a thank you note after a job interview and it actually worked

I had a second interview for a marketing job in Austin last week. After it was done, I mailed a short, handwritten thank you card the next day instead of just sending an email. I got a call from the hiring manager three days later saying they were moving forward with me, and she specifically mentioned the card. I learned that a small, personal touch can really stand out in a digital process. Has anyone else tried something similar and had a good result?

That's a nice change from the usual email follow-up.

Actually it's pretty standard now, a lot of places do it. I got three calls like that just last week. Feels more personal than an email for sure.

My friend got a call like that after an interview last month. The hiring manager just said they liked his energy and wanted to check his interest before sending the formal offer. It made his whole week, and @jessica130 is right, it does feel way more personal. He said it changed how he saw that company completely.
