Boss told me to stop using "we" in my emails and it was the best advice I ever got
My manager pulled me aside after a client complained that our project updates sounded like "a committee wrote them." I was always writing "we think this needs improvement" or "we should discuss the timeline." She said it made me sound unsure and hid my actual opinion. So I started saying "I recommend extending the deadline" or "I think the design is off." Honestly it felt weird at first like I was being too forward. But clients started responding faster and actually asking for my opinion on things. Has anyone else had to change their language at work and noticed a big shift in how people treat you?

Oh man I tried the "I" thing once and accidentally told a client "I think this entire project is a dumpster fire" instead of "we see some challenges." Had to backpedal so hard lol. But yeah using "we" definitely makes you sound like you're hiding in a group chat.
