Can we talk about the $200 standing desk I bought off Facebook marketplace?
Turned out to be a cheap particle board nightmare that wobbled so bad my monitor almost fell off during a Zoom call, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has gotten burned buying budget office gear secondhand.

$200 for particle board that nearly killed your monitor during a Zoom call? That's rough, sounds like you got totally hosed.

Man @avery219 hit the nail on the head, that sounds like a total nightmare. I've been there too with cheap used office stuff - paid $50 for a "like new" office chair that literally shed foam flakes all over my carpet for weeks. People on marketplace will straight up lie about stuff being sturdy when it's basically held together with hopes and dreams. Hope you can at least get your money back or resell it to someone else before it takes out another monitor.

A friend of mine bought a "barely used" treadmill desk off Facebook for $150. The belt slipped off mid stride while he was walking during a meeting and he nearly face planted into his laptop. @avery219 I bet that particle board wobble would've given you flashbacks to the time your desk collapsed mid deadline. He ended up super gluing the belt back on and it lasted maybe three weeks before the motor just straight up died.
