Compared remote and in-person job interviews side by side
I did interviews with two different companies last month. One was fully remote via Zoom, the other was in person at their office in Austin. The in person one let me see the actual workspace and meet the team in real time, which made a huge difference in my decision. Has anyone else found that face to face interviews give you a better read on the company culture?

Dude my buddy had the exact same thing happen. He flew out to Chicago for an in-person interview and got to walk the actual floor. Saw people eating lunch at their desks, heard a manager yell at someone across the room. That totally changed his mind on the job. Remote one was like talking to a blank screen.

@the_simon Did you ask him if the remote job ended up being better though? Felt like a gamble every time I took one blind.

Oh man, I used to be all about remote interviews (thought they were way more convenient, you know). But your buddy's story makes so much sense - seeing the actual vibe of a place, good or bad, is something you just can't get through a screen. Totally changed my mind on how important it is to visit the office first.
