Had a 2 minute chat with a plumber at Home Depot that changed my resume approach
I was grabbing a new drain snake after a backed up sink disaster last Saturday when some old plumber in line behind me said my resume probably looks like a parts list instead of a story of fixes. He told me to treat my job history like a plumbing job, lead with the biggest problem I solved first. Anyone else gotten unexpected career advice from a total stranger in a random aisle?

Yeah but a drain snake isn't really the same as fixing a clogged pipe.

@betty_wells the real trick is finding random wisdom from strangers in places you'd never expect it.

Yeah that plumber was onto something. I tried leading with my biggest win on my resume and suddenly recruiters actually read past the first line. Made a HUGE difference in getting callbacks.
