Just realized my networking emails were way too formal until I tried texting instead

I was sending these long LinkedIn messages to people in my field and getting like a 10% reply rate after 3 months of trying. Then I switched to just sending a quick text or DM with a specific question about their project and my reply rate jumped to maybe 70%. Is it better to keep it professional or does casual actually work better for career connections?

Dan jumping from 2 to 15 replies sounds suspicious, like maybe he was spamming people or his network was just that different.

My buddy Dan went from 2 replies to 15 just by ditching the formal crap.

@williams.sage sure, ditching the formal stuff helps, but 2 to 15 replies sounds like a lot for just that. Maybe his topic was more interesting or he posted at a better time too.
