Noticed my entire industry shifting to contract work overnight

Tbh, this move to gig jobs is leaving a lot of us without benefits.

Yeah, but contract work isn't exactly the same as gig jobs. Some contracts still come with benefits, unlike most gigs. Have you run into any contracts that offer health insurance?

Last year, a survey showed less than 10% of freelance contracts offered any health coverage. That's crazy because without it, you're one accident away from huge debt. I know a guy who took a contract without benefits and ended up paying $500 a month for his own plan. Pushing during hiring talks is key, but even then, most companies just say no. It feels like they're trying to cut corners everywhere. Honestly, hearing about contracts with insurance is like finding a unicorn.

Contracts with benefits are like unicorns" feels a bit off to me. I've seen a decent number of 6-month or yearly contracts that still include health insurance. It's not the same as a full-time gig, but it's not all zero-benefit stuff either.

Ugh, tell me about it. They exist but are super rare. You gotta push for that stuff during the hiring talk now, or you'll never see it.
