Serious question, my cousin keeps saying my job isn't a 'proper' career

Honestly, she works in an office and acts like my real estate gig is just a hobby. Tbh, it's frustrating because I put in long hours and help people find homes. Ngl, last month I helped a young couple buy their first house, and it meant a lot. How do you deal with people who don't respect your career choice?

Ugh, that's so annoying. My buddy Jake is a landscaper, and his uncle always called it "mowing lawns." Then last year, Jake designed this whole backyard oasis for a family, with a patio and fire pit where their kids now play every day. The mom told him it changed how they spend time together. Suddenly his uncle sees it differently. Some people just don't get it until they see the real impact, you know? What does your cousin even think a "proper" job is?

Man, that school system point is huge. We spent years being told college degrees were the only path to good work, so now folks look down on trades without seeing what they actually do. Jake's uncle probably pictured some kid pushing a mower, not someone designing spaces that change family life. Makes you wonder how many other jobs get misunderstood because of old ideas.

Look at how this mindset pushes talented people away from jobs they'd love just because of what they heard growing up. We're losing great workers over stories that aren't even true anymore.

But sometimes those old ideas exist for a reason. A lot of trade work is still just hard, repetitive labor without much design or creativity.
