Taking a pay cut for a shorter commute was the best move I made in years
Everyone told me I was nuts leaving a $65k job in Boston for a $55k one in a suburb, but I was spending 2 hours a day driving. Now I walk to work in 12 minutes and my stress levels dropped way off. Has anyone else traded money for less time in the car?

Gotta stop you right there because I'm with @alexbennett on this. Twelve minutes of walking is less time than most people spend looking for parking at the grocery store. You act like you climbed Everest but really you just moved closer to work. I get that traffic in Boston sucks, but a 10 grand pay cut for 24 minutes of walking doesn't add up in my book. Unless you were also getting paid to sit in gridlock, that trade off just sounds like a bad deal. What happens when you get a better offer in the city again, you gonna keep chasing short commutes forever?
