That time a recruiter called me at 2AM thinking I was a pizza place

I had a similar HR person's number saved wrong and she rang me at 2 in the morning demanding a large pepperoni and breadsticks. After I hung up I realized my voicemail still said "Elliot from DataCo" so she had no clue. Does anyone else keep their phone number too close to a local business?

Gotta say, I've been there too. My number is one digit off from a Chinese takeout place, and for like two years straight I'd get calls at all hours from people wanting lo mein and crab rangoon. It got so bad I just started taking orders and telling them it'd be 45 minutes, then blocking the number. Eventually I changed my voicemail to say "if you're looking for food, you've got the wrong guy" but that didn't help either. Now I just let it ring and laugh about it the next day.

Blocking the number was the only thing that actually stopped the calls for me, took about a month but they finally gave up.

My number is one digit off from a dental office in town... I got a call once at 6AM from someone screaming about a root canal. It's funny how we just adapt to this stuff, like it's normal for strangers to ring us up for food or teeth. Feels like everyone's got one of those accidental twin numbers now... maybe it's just the way our area codes got handed out back in the day.
