Tried a remote job for 6 months vs in-office and my productivity tanked
After switching to remote work at a marketing firm in Austin, I found myself getting distracted by household chores all day, so I went back to the office and my output doubled in just two weeks anyone else struggle with working from home?

Different setups work for different people. Your office might just have a better environment for how your brain works. Some people need that separation between work and home life to stay focused. It's good you figured out what works for you and went back.

Exactly. Routines matter way more than people give them credit for.

Did your friend ever try going back to the office and hate it? I had a buddy who did the whole remote thing for like a year and a half, thought it was perfect, but then when his company made everyone come back he realized he actually liked the commute and the small talk. He said it was the weirdest thing, like he forgot how much he needed that separation to get in the zone. Now he's full time in office and says his productivity is way better, even though he swore remote was the answer for years.

Wait so @torres.thea, your buddy straight up forgot he liked the commute? That honestly sounds like he had to relearn his own habits after being stuck at home so long. It makes me wonder if the whole remote vs office thing is really about the work itself or just the routine we're used to. Like once you get comfortable with one setup, your brain adjusts and then going back to the other feels wrong even if it's actually better. Do you think he would have realized that if the company hadn't forced the change, or did he need that push to figure it out?
