A guy at the lumber yard in Tacoma told me I was wrong to use a 4-inch nail for that deck ledger board.

My inspector in Bellingham said 3-inch galvanized nails are the code minimum for that.

Three-inch nails sounds like overkill for most jobs. That Bellingham inspector must really hate wobbly decks. Hope your lumber is up for it, milam48.

Guess that inspector is making sure your deck doesn't take off in a strong wind. Makes you wonder if he'd want you to use railroad spikes for a birdhouse next.
