A trim guy in Tulsa told me my miter saw was set up wrong and it took me 3 jobs to believe him
I was cutting crown for a built-in out in Broken Arrow and this older guy watched me for about 10 minutes, then said my blade was out of square to the fence by maybe a degree and a half. I told him it cut fine, but he pulled out a machinist square and showed me the gap, and sure enough my test cuts were off just enough to need caulk on every inside corner. I fought him on it for 3 jobs because the saw came that way out of the box and I never checked it. Once I finally dialed the fence in with a feeler gauge and a good square, my joints started closing up tight on the first try instead of me fussing with them. The thing that gets me is how long I blamed my own cuts for a machine problem. How often do you guys actually re-square your saw instead of just assuming it's still good?
