Framing gun vs hand nailing a whole garage, and I picked the wrong one for the job

So what actually made you grab the nailer instead of the framing gun, was it just the price or did you figure it would be faster? Because a whole garage is a ton of nails and that thing is gonna beat your arm to death by the time you get to the second wall. Were you nailing into fresh lumber or was some of it old stuff that was already hard as a rock? I'm curious how far you got before you knew you messed up. Give us the details man, this is the kind of lesson the rest of us need to hear before we make the same call.
