Helped a buddy frame a basement in Tacoma last month and his old framing square was warped to hell

He kept blaming the saw for cuts being off but I checked his square with mine and it was out by a solid 1/16 over 12 inches, has anyone else seen this much drift on a tool that old?

And that's the thing, I've noticed people blame the NEWEST tool in their hand instead of checking the FOUNDATION of their setup, which is the square or level. It's the same with everything from kitchen knives to car maintenance, we always assume the newer thing is the problem when the old, trusted piece went bad years ago. A 1/16 over 12 inches is a LOT of drift, and it will mess up every cut you make from that point on.

Honestly used to think old tools were just fine but you're changing my mind here.
