Just realized the finish guy in Akron was right about sanding between every coat
He mentioned it 3 years back on a cabinet job and I blew it off as overkill, then last week I skipped the sanding on coat two and got 5 visible ridges on a maple island top that cost me a full redo, so now I'm curious who else got burned before they started doing it every time.
My uncle ran a body shop in Barberton for 30 years and he'd say the same thing about wet sanding between clear coats, said skipping it shows up under the lights every time. Took him two decades to get his painters to stop rushing it. Some lessons you just have to eat the cost on before they stick.
