My door was sticking until I checked the hinge mortises

Cutting them deeper solved the drag issue.

Exactly, I just planed the door edge down a bit last time.

What kind of plane did you end up using for that? I always struggle with my old Stanley block plane grabbing at the end grain on the door edge. How much did you have to take off to get it to stop sticking in the frame? That's a fine line between fixing the drag and making the gap too big.

Why assume you need to plane it at all? Honestly, watching @wyatt_mitchell26 just shave wood off seems like a quick fix that causes more problems. That grabbing might mean your blade needs a sharper edge or a lighter touch, not a new tool. Taking off too much is permanent and leaves a visible crack. Wouldn't adjusting the hinge screws or spotting the rub mark with sandpaper be safer? You might solve the drag without changing the fit at all.

Just planed the door edge down a bit" is how all my projects start before I make the gap you could fit a cat through. I feel you, Wyatt. William Garcia's point about the plane grabbing is too real, that's exactly when I panic and push harder, which is always a mistake. I end up taking off way more than I meant to because I'm fighting the tool. Next thing I know, I'm looking at daylight around the door and wondering if I can glue the shavings back on.
