Pro tip: switched from finish nailer to pin nailer for cabinet trim

I always used my 18 gauge brad nailer for attaching shoe molding, but after blowing out a piece of quarter round on a job in Wichita last Tuesday I grabbed my pin nailer instead. The tiny 23 gauge holes barely need any filler and the holding power is plenty for trim that stays in place. Anyone else found a spot where downsizing nailers actually works better?

Are you finding the pin nailer holds up as well on longer runs of shoe molding, or is it more of a short piece thing? I keep worrying about the holding power on stuff that might get bumped by a vacuum or a mop over time. The tiny holes are nice, but I wonder if you have to baby it more compared to a 18 gauge. What's the longest stretch of trim you've pinned without any issues?
