Pro tip: That cheap framing nailer I grabbed on sale cost me 3 hours and a headache

Had a job over on Maple Street last Tuesday, working on a garage frame-up. Grabbed a $40 nailer from a clearance bin at the hardware store near my office, figured it'd be fine for one project. Thing jammed on every third nail, misfired twice, and I ended up hand-hammering half the studs in the heat. Has anyone else had luck with those discount nailers, or should I just stick to the brand-name ones and save the hassle?

Couldn't agree more I grabbed a similar cheap nailer once and it almost made me quit halfway through the job.

Yeah cheap tools can really make you regret every move. You think you're saving money but then you waste hours dealing with jams and misfires. It's like the tool is fighting you the whole time.

Oh man, I've been there too! @karenh56 hit the nail on the head, those cheap tools just fight you when you're already tired and trying to get through a job. Take it from someone who's dealt with jammed nailers before, you gotta clean and oil them regularly or they'll make you wanna throw them across the room.
