TIL my old boss in Tampa was charging clients for 'custom' cabinets he bought from a box store

Found out last week when a client showed me their invoice from three years ago. He billed them for 80 hours of shop time on a set I saw him haul in from a big box store in his truck. Anyone else run into a shop pulling this kind of thing?

Seriously, you gotta report that guy to the state licensing board.

The state board actually only handles licensed trades like electricians and plumbers. MaryWilson is right about it being scummy, but for general contractors you'd file a complaint with the consumer protection office instead.

Wow, that's next level scummy. I mean, I've seen shops mark up materials, but billing for shop time on a box store buy is just straight up fraud.
